Do you know what it really means to be wise?
- Wise people listen to instruction, especially the Word of God.
Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.
Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.
- Wise people fear the Lord.
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
- Wise people associate with wise people.
That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.
Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
- Wise people preserve what they’ve gained and they use it.
The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
- Wise people flee from sin.
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.
- Wise people discipline their speech.
In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.
The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
- Wise people are diligent in their work.
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
- Wise people seek to influence others to trust the Lord.
There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.
Has the Word of God shown you to be wise, or otherwise?
